NEWSLETTER MAY 2019

One of my favourites quotes that best describes the month of May is this one from the famous “Games of Thrones” author, George R.R Martin:  “It was a time for warm embraces, for smiles, for toasts and reconciliations, for renewing old friendships and making new ones, for laughter and kisses. It was a good time, a golden autumn, a time of peace and plenty.  But winter was coming…”

Yip, the last few days we have become acutely aware of a new chill in the air, but luckily, we don`t fear that winter is near, because on Monday 13 May, our long-awaited Ultimate You 12-week Winter Challenge starts in full swing, and this one ALWAYS pulls us through!

There is still time to enter if you haven`t yet given it much thought!  This is going to be an exciting Challenge, I promise, just wait and see…☺  Entry fee is still R320 until the 16th of May, from there it`s R350 payable before 1st of June.

A huge thank you to everyone who reacted so positively on our marketing video.  I am really proud of what we have achieved in the last few years, but without your continuous loyalty and support everything would be in vain.  Thank you, once again to my awesome team: Elanza, Sarita, Anel, Elsje, Doempie and Cecile!!!!

Thank you to everyone who follows our weekly Blog, and a special shout out to Mari Kruger who, week after week, so diligently and professionally update everything on our website.  If you haven’t visited the page recently, do yourself a favour.  Also, please follow the studio on Facebook and, yes, we are on Instagram too – our profile name is mirnas_aerobic_studio and, may I please mention that our followers have grown to a mighty 6 328?!

…So now, all you`ll really need to do this month, and the next one, and the next, is keep showing up.  We promise to make it worth your while.  Of course, you`ll feel less motivated to work out when the days are short and it takes nearly 15 minutes just to dress warm enough, but here are a few old tricks and tips to stay motivated when the cold strikes in full force…

Research has shown time and again that regular exercise strengthens your immune system so it can fight off bacterial and viral infections. This becomes particularly important in winter when colds and flu rear their ugly heads.  But blah blah blah, you know all this…Stay consistent with the time of day you have carved out for yourself to exercise.  Think of how you`ll feel when it`s done.  Breathe – it keeps the blood flowing and get oxygen to the brain.  When you feel like quitting, remind yourself why you started.

Of all the people on the planet, you talk to yourself more than anyone.  Make sure you are saying the right things.  Convince yourself that you DON`T need to take on a “snuggle up” mentality by eating more and doing less.  Human hibernation, you say?  No, we are not bears!  And we really don`t need layers and layers of fat to survive winter.  And for this reason, remember, whilst overindulgence feels good, it also feeds negativity.  Too much chocolate, too many roast potatoes… the need for a baggier top, the avoidance of the mirror – it can all become a 12 week spiral and then you hate your spring body, again!  Decide that you`re NOT going there this time…

Some experts say only 8% of people actually stick to their winter exercise routines. If you decide not to quit this winter, we`ll help you remember why you started and where you’re going. This year you can and you will be one of those people in the 8%!  You are a strong woman, and you know what they say about strong women…a strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink…

Yours in fitness

Mirna
